Steel Pipe Bollard Installation in Houston, TX
Advantage Fence installs steel pipe bollards for Houston warehouses, loading docks, retail centers and industrial properties. Bollards create a physical boundary around equipment and building features near vehicle routes. We review traffic patterns, turning space and access before quoting, so the placement fits how your commercial property is used.
Pipe bollards for commercial properties
Loading docks, building corners and exposed equipment often sit close to delivery routes. Bollards can help separate those areas from moving vehicles and make boundaries easier for drivers to see. Common locations include dock doors, columns, utility meters and gate operators. The layout needs to account for the vehicles approaching each location and the space available for maneuvering.
Pipe bollard installation for Houston site conditions
Existing pavement, underground utilities and ground conditions affect a pipe bollard installation. On sites with clay soil, changes in moisture can cause the ground to expand and shrink, so foundation requirements need to reflect the actual soil and intended use. Pipe dimensions, exposed height, anchoring and finish should be specified for the project. Share any drawings or required performance specifications when requesting an estimate.
Bollards around gates and entry equipment
A bollard near an automatic gate must leave the swing or slide path clear and allow maintenance access to the operator. Keypads and card readers need to remain reachable, with room for vehicles to approach safely. If your project includes driveway gates or access control systems, include that equipment in the bollard layout from the start. Pedestrian routes and emergency access also need to remain clear.
Plan bollards with the rest of your perimeter
A few bollards beside a loading dock and a larger installation across a commercial yard call for different layouts. Share the locations you want to address, the vehicles using the site and any drawings or specifications you have. Advantage Fence also installs commercial chain-link fencing, so fencing and bollards can be discussed together when your project includes both.

Pipe Bollards FAQs
Are steel pipe bollards crash rated?
Not automatically. A crash rating applies to a specific tested system and its installation requirements. Steel pipe construction alone does not establish an impact rating. If your project requires tested vehicle-impact performance, the selected system and its installation specifications need supporting documentation.
How deep should a pipe bollard foundation be?
There is no single depth for every installation. Pipe dimensions, foundation design, ground conditions and the intended use influence the specification. The proposed installation details should be included in your project scope.
What affects pipe bollard installation cost?
The number and size of bollards, foundation work, existing pavement, finish requirements and access to the installation area all affect the estimate.
How much space should bollards leave for pedestrians?
Bollards must preserve required pedestrian and accessible routes. The U.S. Access Board ADA Standards generally require at least 36 inches of clear width for walking surfaces on accessible routes, with limited exceptions. Turns, passing spaces and door or gate approaches can require additional clearance. Check the complete requirements for the site before choosing the layout; 36 inches alone does not establish compliance.
Are small bollard projects welcome?
Yes. Advantage Fence welcomes large projects and small jobs. Share your property location and the areas you want to address when requesting an estimate.
